Today we went to the 24th Annual Stockley Gardens Arts Festival. I'm not gonna lie, I was disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the art was nice (my favorite art was Prairie Grass framed art by Cheryl & Steven Ward - A-mazing!), but we come from the South. We come from a place where they know art festivals. They are acres and acres and you take a shuttle from the parking lots to the actual festival. And you take siestas between tents because they are so huge your dogs are tired. So, we made it through the festival in, oh, an hour, maybe less. I think including the "free" 5 minute massage I got at a chiropractic booth, we may have topped an hour. Oh I must remind myself that nothing in life is free. Anything someone wants to give you is almost always accompanied by a "with your $30 donation today we'll give you a complimentary exam, x-rays, and plan to manage your clear and obvious screwed up back." Needless to say, I tipped the massage therapist and moved on to the next booth as quickly as possible.

Later that afternoon, we ate a late lunch at La Tolteca ($22) at the High Street Landing in Portsmouth and then took a ride on the Elizabeth River Ferry over to Waterside Festival Marketplace in Norfolk to walk around and check it out. over to the MacArthur Center Mall. We had only run through the parking garage one other time for me to run into Johnny Rockets to pick up some veggie burgers and fries. We walked around a bit, but it didn't take me long to realize how much I dislike shopping. We walked back down to Waterside and headed home after watching the boats and people go by.

When I can remember, I'll keep track of what we spent so you can get an idea of how much our adventures cost.
