Today, we went on a Naval Base Cruise on the Victory Rover, in Norfolk. It was a 2 hour cruise and in the first 20 minutes we learned more about the waterfront area between Portsmouth and Norfolk than we have in the last 4 months. It was a wonderful cruise and definitely worth $16.50 a person (they sold snacks too and we bought $8 worth). We even got to see three dolphins, a family that looked from the fins like a mom, dad and baby. It was amazing and so unexpected!

After the tour, we walked around the USS Wisconsin at the Nauticus, looked up Marines and Naval servicemen on the computer roster they have on the 2nd floor, and visited the gift shop.

For lunch we drove to the Pagoda but it was closed (on Sundays). So instead we went to San Antonio Sam's in Ghent. I had a veggie burger and fries. I was very disappointed in the veggie burger for two reasons. One - the menu said that it was a "chargrilled veggie patty" and when I asked the waitress if it was handmade there or a pre-made patty, and she said they make it there. It was neither chargrilled, nor handmade - it was definitely a frozen patty. Two - the patty was clearly microwaved, because the edges were crunchy, I mean literally crunchy and dry - I nearly cracked my tooth in the first bite. Horrible. Fries were excellent, but that was it.

After lunch we drove out to the Norfolk Oceanfront and walked out on the Ocean View Fishing Pier ($1/person). Aside from the fact that people fish and that makes me sad, it's a fantastic place to view the water.
