Tonight we rode our bikes to Portside boat landing in Portsmouth and rode the Elizabeth River Ferry over to Waterside. From there we rode our bikes through downtown to Rama Garden Thai restaurant. The decor was more upscale than any other Thai restaurant I've ever been in. We were completely disappointed in the fact that they do not serve fresh spring rolls (what Thai restaurant doesn't have fresh spring rolls!?), and only have the fried kind. Because we started eating healthy on Monday (New Year's resolution), we passed on the fried spring rolls and ordered the vegetable soup and tofu soup for an appetizer to share. They both had very fresh ingredients, tasted fantastic and were nice portions. For dinner, we shared the mixed vegetable plate with garlic sauce and asked that cashews be added. We ordered one extra side of fresh jasmine rice, since we split the entree. The quality of the food was fantastic, but few too many pieces of broccoli and not enough other vegetables for our liking. We'll come here again, but will probably choose Siam 21 in Ghent when we're in the mood for the spring rolls. After dinner, we rode back to the Ferry and took it back to Portsmouth. We rode home, despite both of us having stomach cramps, most likely from exercising too soon after eating. |
