This afternoon we went to the 38th Annual Seawall Art Show 2008 (free) in Portsmouth at High Street Landing. This was our first time attending this show, so not sure if it's considered a big show, but I would definitely call it a small, quaint show. It was nice how all of the artists' tents were white, instead of the standard variety of tents you typically see at arts and crafts shows. Most of the work was pretty standard - paintings, sculpture, photography, and lots of jewelers. There were a few that stood out to me as my favorites...

  • Dzaet, the art of Pamela Hill
  • Photography by George Rhodes
  • Photo-Collages by Paul M. Stevens (I wish he had a website I could share with you, he's got a very clever artform)
  • Watercolor, Acrylics, Mixed Media, and Glass Painting by Pauline Ross (these two are my favorites - Bouys 1, Bouys 2)
  • Colorful acrylic paintings by Hugh Townsend Harris (this is one of my favorites)
We were hungry after walking around, but the cost of the french fries was $5 and the homemade potato chips was $6. Seriously people, do we look like idiots willing to spend that amount of money on something that costs mere nickels to make?
